Would it hurt you, Dad, to know your little girl now;
Would it hurt to know that she's not the same person she was before;
Would it come as a surprise that she's grown up and left a lot behind;
Would it hurt you to know that she has loved and had her heart broken;
Would you ache when you come to know that she's been alone and confused;
Would it hurt you to realize that she's been in the arms of another man,
Someone who might not treasure her as much as you do,
Would it be hard to let her go;
Would it be hard to know that she's been in love and out of it,
More times than she can count;
Would it hurt you to know that she's cried herself to sleep many times over;
Would it hurt to know that she's almost bled herself dry;
Would you still remain her only hope,
Her father, who taught her so much;
Would you still trust her to make the right decisions,
Even though you know she might be wrong;
Would you believe in her, and hope for her best,
For your little angel whom you love so much;
Would you be her strength when she needs you,
And her pillar of support when nothing makes sense and she stands hopeless;
Would you tell her, Dad, that you'll let her be herself,
And to follow her dreams, as impossible as they might seem;
Would you tell your little princess, that though she's long since grown up,
She'll always be your most precious gem,
And you will try your utmost to protect her;
Would you tell her, Dad, that she'll always be your little girl,
And that you'll always stay beside her;
Would you, Dad, would you tell her?
