'Wrong Side Of The Looking Glass' Poem by Stanley Joseph Vinet Jr. Vinet

'Wrong Side Of The Looking Glass'

When the last crumb was eaten,
When the last child was beaten,

When the last foul touch was taken,
When all trust was forsaken,

When the last price was paid for the cost,
When innocence was taken and purity lost,

When the last deal was made,
When the last price was paid,

When the quite was broken;
all the secrets were spoken.

When the king was removed from his throne
and the queen cried all alone.

They stood by the queen as her illusions crashed down,
they picked up the lies that once were her crown.

The truth they held that made their world,
nothing more than lies that came unfurled.

Into the madness she sent them apart,
with pain, stone, and anger for hearts.

The queen sent them as she only knew;
clothed in lies,
armed with manipulation,
padded their feet in deceit,
covered their eyes with illusions.

Each to head their own way.
So much they learned at a Child's age,
they climb from the darkness of the cave.

Through the looking glass the three little ones returned.
