Wrongful Imprisonment Poem by George Coomb

Wrongful Imprisonment

Wrongful Imprisonment

there
where the years
have fallen
like autumn leaves
he waits,
where
shadows lengthen
where
existence throbs
with predatory evil
time takes
parts of the self,
autumn brings
leaf-fall, desolation
in nature then waiting
fragile
vulnerable
where justice
maimed
tortured
screams “no! ”

distant
light
on the long
path
tremulous
among
the passing winds,
heavy doors,
turning keys
a palpable
menace
leaving him
here,
man in shadow
longing
for years locusts
have ravaged
here the
man opens his
true self
to pulsate
with a warriors heart

shadows slowly
withdraw
the warrior
embraces
the distant
vibration
of light –
now
the conflict
the fight
for truth
held captive
by armies
of lives
justice
screams from her
chains
“No! ”

“Never in my
name that now
is agonized
in betrayal”
