Y-Chromosomal Adam Poem by Daya Nandan

Y-Chromosomal Adam

Beyond the boundaries of nations, religions and race,
We are all united and similar by a scientific trace,
A shared common ancestor of the past that relates us all,
Whose passed on genes will keep evolving until the day we fall,

One of the deepest roots of humanities family tree,
A common genetic imprint almost unchanged within you and me,
Y-chromosomal Adam is the name scientists coined up for this man,
Who enhanced early hunting technique and language like no one can,

Born in Africa roughly about 200 000 - 300 000 years ago,
With a mutation in his Y-chromosome that has survived time's flow,
The same mutation now lives on in every currently living male,
A mutation that helped increase our intelligence to an epic scale,

The most unique male of a tribe whose mutation lives in all guys,
Born in the cradle of Africa where the first humans began to rise,
All living men are related and linked by his unique mutation,
Back in echos time to an ancient tribe of the African nation.
