World Pneumonia Day Poem by Daya Nandan

Step up and raise awareness about the problem at hand,
Prevent Pneumonia from killing millions upon our earthly land,
Save them we must, kids that keep perishing each day,
Dying from this alveoli destroying lung disease, there is a way,

More than 1.5 million children die of pneumonia each year,
More than AIDS, Tuberculosis and malaria combined, truly a fear
450 million infected and 4 million deaths annually around the world,
Pneumonia spares no one, not any man, woman, boy or girl,

Though many die, such an unfortunate event is preventable,
For with proper awareness and planning we can turn the table,
We have to diagnose and treat pneumonia early, prevent deaths,
Before the symptoms of pneumonia puts anybody to their final breaths,

Today is a calling for leaders to scale up existing interventions,
And invest in new diagnostics, treatments and better preventions,
More effort to destroy this horrid inflammatory lung disease,
Save lives from pneumonia, put their loved ones at ease,
