TUNE: QING PING LE -- Clear Serene Music
TITLE: On paper crimson in characters small
-- Yan Shu (991-1055)
-- Translated by Frank C Yue
On paper crimson,
In characters small,
She neatly bares all
Feelings from her bosom.
Wild geese in the sky high,
Twin carps in the water --
Sadly, no courier comes by
To take her letter!
Alone, till the Sun sets, against the west tower she leans;
Distant hill just faces the hook of the window screen.
But -- her Gallant is nowhere seen!
Still, towards the east, flow the waves green.
