Yes John I Can Dance Poem by Kevin Patrick

Yes John I Can Dance

Rating: 5.0

People can laugh
and deride me with ridicule
Blast me in chlorine gas
And think I'm abominably parochial
They can call me a penny
Who can never rise above a dollar
Spring a broken spinning jenny
Shaking ever shifting heddles
But I got two solid feet
Which are never in reverse
Synchronized to always jest
In my private universe
Yes John I can dance

I never participate
Because I don't have a partner
That can operate in relation
To the fluid of my momentum
My astronautic locomotion
Is beyond you normal gravitation
So I'm dancing Martian ballads
On weekend in the basement
Enjoying the good vibrations
While wearing only underwear
I only need that one good song
To make me feel that teenage love

Yes John I can Dance

I never liked the ballrooms
Because their always full of snakes
More in touched with their reflections
And always charming bar fly dates
Never found that girl or boy
Who's appealed to me like tea
I only make out with the noise
When I hear that melody
See my legs can really kick
Once that cool beat has me played
But if you're shallow in your licks
I'll just wonder in the wind

Yes John I can dance

I can dance when I want to,
and I can dance when I like to
With a cat on a hot tin,
or a fiddler on the roof
Working grooves in the floor
Until the moon is out the door
Because my legs are made of lightning
Faster than a speeding stallion
And if I'm slow to act in Public
Behind closed doors I'm simply magic
If you saw how I Manoeuvred
You plug yourself in horse manure

Yes John I can dance
And Ill ride your sister's pants
On the floor with sonic rhythm
Until ecstasy has got us fizzled
I might be the quiet Lion
But I can roar tenacious valiant
I'm not Much Music Hack
With a box of tricks with cash
My style is original
And essentially individual
Dancing is in my blood
Just like the act of love

And if I had someone who's right
I would dance with them all night
But since I dont Im all alone
So solitude's my perfect home

So Yes … I really can dance
