Yes, She Was Found! Poem by Vasco Ogie

Yes, She Was Found!

YES, SHE WAS FOUND!

From the moistened wall of the mangrove
Was taken a maiden whose umbilical yet dangles in glove
To an unheralded quest, birth in ignorance
Flight into a blistered future held in abeyance
Never, never had humanity ever been denuded

Juvenile rash that bids no farewell to those who journey this path
Thus you have chosen to malign our cherished values violated
Innocuous so it seemed but forbidden by civil civilization
Consequences, consequences must pay their visits to you!

Tufie! What a defilement of culture we tend conserve?
Traces of religious bigotry in this poly sphere
It bespeaks of mind decays and the great jeopardy ahead
Yes! Imposition of culture on unwilling souls
Uncommon, abomination, ominous actions
Which Heaven we represent abhors

The law is culpable. Yes! Leadership is
Excuses, excuses! These do not woo mine judgements
For I know that conspiracy is berthed in Societies' souls
Where being heard sail to be assailed
Talks were rife! Mother, as of a bereaved, wailed

Far away in draught stricken Savanna, land of the assailant
In Yinusa's long oblong thatched hut
Like a conquered bride, whose prize had been taken for real
There she sat marooned-face inducted to veil
Head like a primed polio diseased out cast

Emotionally devalued, socially alienated,
Culturally defaced and medically depreciated
Like a kid - so she is-she dithered over which home to belong
Deus ex machina, she is rescued!
She returned to her disavowed homestead
In the midst of uproar and disquiet
She was found after seven months shattered and disgraced

ESE returned home!
