Yesterday's Dreams Poem by Doug Beggs

Yesterday's Dreams

Rating: 5.0

I dreamed of yesterday and all about my boyhood days,
When we were young again, and we were pals, but I couldn't stay.
I dreamed we played and ran thru time,
I dreamed all this, if only in my mind.
Warm days of summer blew softly in our face,
And all at once we were back, in that special place.
Back in time we had beaten that old clock that carries us on,
Everything looked just the same, as it did before we were grown.
Oh how wonderful it is, to recall back the past,
But all too soon, we awake, for it doesn't last.
Like the flow of the river, going down to the sea,
Life doesn't stop for anyone, not even you and me.
Yes, we were friends once upon a time a long time ago,
So come along with me and we will run and play,
When once again I dream my dreams of you and me and of yesterday.
