You... Poem by Doug Bri

You...

You once were my pride
love me feed me never leave me were the words that brought me joy
to hear them again i will never know if they hold the same meaning they did once before

An abstract thought, an empty shell
At an abandoned building we find ourselves
Of what was once our love
Of what was once our friendship
our trust and loyalty all crumbled with it

We walked away calmly, at times we found ourselves back at it
You were scared to end up like your parents
I was scared to run into your parents
I was scared to move past it
You planted your flag on top of it

My fault. I planted the bomb that destroyed it

These poems bring me the closure i never found with you
These poems are the hope i have for you

That you never end up like you did when you saw our skyscraper crumble at our feet

Trust is such a valuable thing that once its gone you may never have it
Love is such a horrible thing that there is a chance we fight it
Hate is such an over powering thing that we just embrace it

and yet we still face it... this world day by day
moving forward, paving the way.

For our own futures.

Love me, Feed me, Never leave me... they are just the memories to that melody that plays constantly on the radio...

And as i change the dial
It is the song that keeps playing

I needed a new radio so i threw it away in the trash.

And like a ghost i hear that same song from time to time
This time from the cars that pass by...
It is the song that will always haunt me for the rest of my life...
