You Are, I Am Poem by Oliver Cross

You Are, I Am

Rating: 5.0

You are a bold knight upon your high horse
I am a self pitying Gargoyle drowning in remorse

You are the greatest of Samaritans, always making time to help the poor
I am a nameless pickpocket thief, always on the run from the law

You are the most astute of intellectuals, calculating the infinite number of Pi
I am a wondering drifter, trying desolately not to die

You are the most talented of musicians, performing in front of thousands of adoring fans
I am an unshaven jack of all trades, basking to empty beer cans

Whatever you may believe
Whatever I perceive

We're not that different you and I
Whether it be the brain, heart or thigh

Our lives maybe different
Our similarities a few
But we're both human me and you
