You Are My Friend Poem by Newton Ray Ukwuoma

You Are My Friend

You Are My Friend

If I should this vast world traverse round about
Upon the voyage will have eyes roaming here about
Hardly an one to find: unbridled without veil`d manners
Here only mortals have the art to clad the sepulcher in feathers
Your ills flattered, in venomous silence your mockery cries out
Truth is dignified in the company of lies and there it sprout`
And very often are our ill-deeds festooned with sweet letters
Shine like silhouette, denying light the glitch that matters

What then brethren is the concept of friendship and love
If judgment swell well in lies and truth it cover`
Who then can discover my eyes that I might truly behold
Truth: the undressed, the naked virgin that is not told
For man`s a mine of gold and filth, only a miner can amend
Please scoop up every scum in me, if truly you are my friend
