You Are You Poem by Joan Marques

You Are You

If you were a place
You’d be an oasis
With a bracing well
Where I could dwell:
A cool, shady basis

If you were a song
You’d be a main love theme
With words from the heart
A smash on my chart
The lead of my dream

If you were a book
You’d be a bestseller
An uplifting reader
An imposing leader
A great storyteller

If you were a dream
You’d be calm and sweet
And you’d keep recurring
To keep my mind whirring
For peaceful retreat

But now you are you
Mysterious someway
A quiet outsider
My soul’s peace provider
The high of my day…
