You Aren'T You Poem by Hunter Hawley

You Aren'T You

Rating: 4.8

You aren't you
I'll tell you how come
Your thinking has been done for you
By the colors you are from

United we stand
Divided we are
Divided by the thing
that got us this far

We are determined
It is clear that we care
But can we care together
And get us back up there

Back where we belong
Before we got so worried
About I'm right you're wrong

It's pointless
Nobody's right
When you stick to your groups words
Enough to go and fight
Those who care as much as you
About the red and blue and white

The road back is together
that's the only way
We'll never make it there
With only your way or my way

It's our say
Let's think for the whole group
Instead of the D or the R
The B or the W
The North or the South
Which will rise again
Together as one
So take it from Ben
'Lost time is never found again'

So do not stall
Save what you savor
By putting down your weapons
Pointed at thy neighbor

And let that neighbor hear

I am me
And colors don't define that
You vs. Me no more
We've got better places to be at

Lovely piece of poetry, well articulated and insightfully penned with conviction. Much ado about nothing well depicted in the piece. I like the rhyme scheme of the poem. A good one indeed. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.

Too many people spew rhetoric, believing what they've been told to believe without thinking. Borders, flags, patriotism and unwarranted pride will always lead to no good. Thanks for sharing, Hunter Peace
