You Battle On Hard Poem by Francis Duggan

You Battle On Hard

The battles of life you do find hard to face
As poverty is a thing you cannot embrace
With tough times behind you and tough times ahead
No wonder at times you do wish you were dead
Yet the spirit of life in your young heart beats strong
And to the surviving kind you do belong
It is of life's battles the poets do sing
Who knows what tomorrow for anyone will bring
Like for so many like you life's battles are tough
But you are a survivor and you will prove good enough
For 'tis a fact of life and facts never lie
That the will to live is far greater than the wish to die
You battle on hard with your ghosts of despair
But you are a tough one you will hang in there.
