You Breathed Into Man Poem by Gary James Smith

You Breathed Into Man

YOU BREATHED INTO MAN

You breathed into man the breath of life
And a living soul he became
We are breathing still today
We breathe to praise Your name
Our hearts are made to pump the blood
That keeps our bodies fit
Yet some men still disbelieve
And will hear, none of it

Yet Lord You are so merciful
Your grace much more abounding
While sin takes its toll on men today
Your patience is astounding
Longsuffering is an attribute
No longsuffering One as Thee
You hold back all Your wrath and wait
And love abundantly

Love this world had never known
If Jesus had not come
For God so loved the world He made
He gave His only Son
That Son obeyed His Father's will
And went to Calvary's cross
A forgiving prayer came from those lips
Who caused Him such a loss

His loss of life He took full pain
Sin's punishment and penalty
Were nailed to the cross that day
He paid the debt for me
But death and hell and sin itself
Could not withhold the power
For in three days up from the grave He arose
God's Resurrection Hour

In the early morn at the dawn of day
The stone had a big suprise
For two angels sat upon that rock
And waited for startled eyes
As Mary came to seek the Lord
At first she had great fear
But the angels gave her cheerful words
He's Risen, He is not here

The disciples next, when they heard
They ran into the tomb
They saw His linen clothes set down
They new it was the truth
And He is still the Truth today
Though some men disbelieve
Look my friend to Calvary's Cross
Look! And then believe.................!
