You Could Call It Misunderstood Love. Poem by Ceri Fields

You Could Call It Misunderstood Love.

Rating: 5.0

A long time ago, personalities were judged.
And now still, minds remain unchanged.
Two people, nearly the same, separated by opinions, years, preconception.
Forever like siblings, but only children.

One told to wait, have patience, see what the future brings.
But waiting gives way to frustration,
Frustration to suffering and pain.
So much, that eyes burning with tears unshed
Close themselves to the world.

The awkward truth kept inside, threatening to ruin their fragile bond,
Still yearns to be free, be out, be said.
And yet it can't. It's too hard.
Wait a bit longer, the heartsick timid will.
For time may pass, but the heart stays the same.
Waiting is the only thing she can do.
