You Gave It Your Most. Poem by Ricardo Flores

You Gave It Your Most.

You thought joining was the best option.
Now you see you gave it away.
All for fighting for nothing, but loosing everything.
You pledged to serve, and stood up tall.
Now you have gone, but have not came back.
You said you walked by bullets and haze.
You thought it was to be done.
You gave it your most.
You saved the lives of you friends, but you gave up yours.
You would hold your rifle like the only thing that was of value to you.
You fired without regret.
You gave it your most to save their lives.
But you gave up yours.
Now i wait for someone who will not be coming.
I wait for you, knowing you will not show up.
