You Have Exposed Me Poem by Heather Z. Hanna

You Have Exposed Me

You have exposed me to myself.
You see in me what I seek.
You pronounce it just this and that.
Am I so ordinary?
Of course, I chose to share myself with you.
It could not be otherwise.
There is a safety there.
I am forthcoming with generalities
but keep my deepest self to me.
I do not like to share limelight
with my inner self.
I do not like pronouncements
that demean me.
It causes disintegration
of something I must keep.
I cannot afford to lose it,
That which is my core.
