You Hold The Key Poem by Rachel Waldrep

You Hold The Key

I closed the door to my heart,
and wouldn't let anyone in.
I had trusted and loved only to be hurt,
but that would never happen again.

I locked the door and tossed the key,
as far as I could.
Love was never welcomed there again,
my heart was closed for good.

But when you came into my life,
and made me change my mind.
I cried for that tiny key,
was impossilbe to find.

That's when you held out your hand,
and proved me to be wrong.
For inside your hand you held that key,
you had it all along.
