You May Have Lost Your Eye Sight, But I Lost My Life Poem by Samantha Butler

You May Have Lost Your Eye Sight, But I Lost My Life

I know you cannot hear me,
I know you've lost your sight,
Know that not all hope is gone,
Do not give up the fight.

Someday you shall open your eyes,
And all you will do is see,
Everything will be beautiful,
But that is impossible for me.

For while you are suffering,
My pain has come to an end,
My eyes are closed forever,
The last thing I saw, my friend.

A sudden flash of pain,
A cold metallic thud,
Bodies crumpled on the ground,
Floating in a sea of blood.

We were unfortunate that day,
Our final day on tour,
But I guess that's what you should expect,
When fighting in a war.
