You Promised Poem by Eduardo Torres

You Promised

You promised me something.
that you would return,
you gave me a kiss, telling me that you would return,

I stood there waiting for you,
minutes passed by
the hours seemed long
the days took forever
the months were unbearable
the years were painful

As I kept waiting
I noticed that you lied.
you lied to me.
you weren’t coming back,
I wasted my time waiting for you.
It was the wrong thing to do.
You promised me.
that you would return
and now I promise you that I wont be there if you ever return.
