You Taught Me Poem by Taira Mitchell

You Taught Me

You taught me so many things when we were together
You taught me how to be independent
Cause you was never there when i needed you
You taught me to be ambitious
Because that's what you lacked
You taught me never to lie
Cause you was so good at that
You taught me to be true to myself and others
You taught me the meaning of the words 'I love you'
You taught me so many things
That way I really wasn't that mad when you left the scene
You taught me to never cheat
Because that's what you did
You made me not want to have any kids
Because you had so many
You made me want to strap up, so i won't get ant STD's
Remember that burning sensation, thank god you didn't give it to me
You taught me to never let a man abuse you
Because you left me with all the marks and bruises
You taught me to be a strong black women, and i thank you for that
That's why when you left, I never looked back!
