You Taught Me To Fly Poem by Paradis Winslet

You Taught Me To Fly

You taught me to fly,
You taught me to fly by learning to fall,
You carried me on your shoulders and on your wings,
Now it is my turn to fly,
I have been crawling for so long,
I have learned to walk,
To walk on my own,
I have learned to get back up on my own when I fall,
I have learned to walk on my own,
You have taught me how to fly,
You have taught me to fly,

Along the way, I have stumbled,
I have fallen but I get up and try again,
I' am here willing, and able to learn to fly,
To fly with my own wings,
For it is there between the stars and the moon I belong,
You have taught me to fly by learning to fall,

A Long time ago you taught me that;
Failing isn't about falling but is giving up,
So father, let me walk this journey of life with your words in my heart,
And your voice in my head, for you keep me in line,
Father, you are my campus through this desert,
You are my guide through these narrow corridors of life.

With guidance and discipline, you set for me,
I have learned to crawl,
I have learned to walk,
I have learned to run,
And now I can fly on my own wings,
I have learned to fly, fly far away in lands unknown,
Where there is no fear, no death, no pain,
Where there is no crying,
Far away in a land where love is the religion for humanity,
Where hate and prejudice is unknown,
I want to fly away on my own wings to a life and a world unlike this.
You taught me to fly by learning to fall,
Taught me to fly, fly.
