Your Game Poem by Hope Wallin

Your Game

A gentle kiss, a tender smile.
You ask if I can stay a while.
My heart, it leaps, my eyes meet yours.
We enter in and shut the door.
I see now it was all a lie,
To get to me and make me cry.
You knew my love was strong and true,
You drew me in and close to you.
Just to smash my heart to bits,
You played me at your fingertips.
I fell for that cliche'd love song,
Not knowing you would do me wrong.
Now that it's done, I see that all
You did was bounce me like a ball.
The ups and downs, the side to side.
Your game was like a coaster ride.
Well, now I'm off, my ride is done.
And now that you have had your fun,
I wish to breathe you one last kiss,
To show you just what you will miss.
One night, real late, you'll think of me,
And wonder why you let it be,
And wonder why I passed you by,
You'll cry one tear and heave a sigh.
Maybe you'll come to me and ask
To let the past stay in the past.
You'll beg me just for one more chance,
And this time, I can make you dance.
Just like a toy, I'll play with you,
To show you just how you do.
A taste of your own medicine,
You'll think that you are going to win
The race for love, the love of me,
But very soon you'll come to see.
It was a game, just like you play,
With every girl, with every day.
A player's all you'll ever be,
But I won your little game, tee-hee!
