Your Granddaughter Poem by Doug Gunderson

Your Granddaughter

You’re gone my love, so you can’t see
All the fun she has with me.
We do dishes, take a bath
Use M&Ms to teach her math.
She helps me cook. She likes to stir.
And I love my time with her.
And later when she needs a nap
She snuggles in upon my lap.
When she awakes, her smile’s so bright
Her happiness can last all night.
She sees the photos, and knows your name
But it will never be the same.
You are not here to watch her grow
Even though you loved her so.
So I often tell her about you
And all the things you liked to do,
And every once in a while
I swear I see you in her smile.
And as I watch Tabitha grow
I promise I will let you know.
