Richard Cady Poems

Why do they look at me like I'm some sort of freak
With the glasses I wear they call me a geek
They look on the surface and rarely within
That is the problem that they have with them

Diabetes Mellitus a pair of ugly words
Here's what those ugly words mean
It means blood sugar meters and insulin pens
It means hospital visits and blood work done
...

It's one in the morning and still I'm awake
Got a feeling inside I just can't seem to shake
Walk outside to see the moon and stars shine
Wondering if you'll ever be mine
...

I've been saved by one man
Been made a member of Jesus' clan
Been saved from the death I had earned
Saved by grace undeserved

Why does she act like I'm not even there
When I'm the only one who really and truly cares
I think she's scared to be around me
Because she keeps pushing me away

Before the brightest dawn
It's the most violent part of the storm
Before you'll see the calm

Winter comes and goes as it does every year
But this season we will all be full of winter cheer
The cold air breathes on you light as a feather
As we go through this winter weather

Richard Cady Biography

I started writing poetry when I was around 19 and found it was an excellent way of talking about things i don't normally talk about the difficulties I've had in life so far and it became a hobby I write poetry for fun so i never expected anyone to read it or even like it but here I am and apparently they do read it and in fact like it I'm a bit new to writing poetry so if you have any constructive criticism then it would definitely be appreciated)

They'Re No Different From Me Or You

Why do they look at me like I'm some sort of freak
With the glasses I wear they call me a geek
They look on the surface and rarely within
That is the problem that they have with them

They look for perfection when there is none to be found
And they walk about like they have been crowned
They are the popular kids
The cheerleaders and jocks
Who when they walk by people
Those people tell them they rock

But deep down inside they've got problems too
So really they're no more different from me or you
They maybe not have acne or problems with smarts
But inside I'm sure they have hurting hearts

They might have been beaten at home
And to cover it up
They might put on too much make-up
They may have parents going through a divorce
And they feel like their being tugged two ways
So they go through their life like they're in a daze

And so they look to others to give them praise
Then when we refuse to give them the praise they desire
They sink to the floor like a deflated tire
They look for acceptance in their own different way

Because when they're at home they're beaten and bruised
When they go back to school they feel so confused
At school they fit in with the popular crowd
But they cry to themselves when there's no one around
Deep inside they're no different from us
They beg for acceptance because they get none at home
And when they come back to school they feel so alone
So when the popular crowd comes to bother you
Just remember they're not any different from me or you
