Winters Soft Cold Kiss Poem by Richard Cady

Winters Soft Cold Kiss

Winter comes and goes as it does every year
But this season we will all be full of winter cheer
The cold air breathes on you light as a feather
As we go through this winter weather

December, January, and February roll past
Yet still I find that some memories last
Skiing, sledding, and skating too
During winter there's loads of things to do

Soft fluffy flakes fall silently down
After an hour of tapping I lay my pen down
And typing away I go to town

Young children are outside
Making angels in the snow
As I find my creative juices begin to flow
I look outside as it begins again to snow
I find myself quietly writing pages
As I remember things from back through the ages

Frost coats the car windows
As I arrive at my grandmas house
Lay down salt on the icy front walk
Shovel the snow off my grandma's sidewalks

Skate once more across the rink
Gather wood for a fire down by the creek
Tree branches are truly bare
But it seems to me that I don't have a care

Look for your friends down by the brook
Or go to your room and read a good book
Poems written next to a blazing fire
Ignite in me a new desire
The coals in the fireplace are glowing and crackling
Outside the children are laughing and cackling

Next to the hearth
Spiced cider sits on the old oak table
As I find myself looking for the printer cable

Sugar, Spice, and everything nice
I tried to make this poem very concise
Gingerbread men are in the oven baking
And it is high time I start my leave-taking

I hope you enjoyed this wintry reminisce
And I hope you enjoy winters soft cold kiss
