Up All Night Poem by Richard Cady

Up All Night

It's one in the morning and still I'm awake
Got a feeling inside I just can't seem to shake
Walk outside to see the moon and stars shine
Wondering if you'll ever be mine

The clock strikes three
And since I can't sleep I go and make a pot of coffee
Take a couple of sips of that black gold
Go outside for a walk to try and clear my head
Man is it cold!
So I go back in instead
Once again I try sleeping
Lying in my bed I can't fall asleep
Plagued by visions of you
Circling round in my head

I curse my sleepless night
As I pace back and forth in endless plight
Debating what I should've done
What was wrong and what was right
This is what happens to you when you're up all night
