And darkness settles in,
I head off to my easy chair,
Where I doze off now and then.

Hopping along the trail,
He was white, had floppy ears,
And a little bunny tail.

A knock upon my door

There came a knock upon my door,
Through the still and late of night,

When I look back
On the dreams I left behind;
Buried there in all my thoughts
It is you I always find.

There it stands, it's lonely form,
Beside the red dirt road,
Where grows the wild berry thorn,
From seed some farmer sowed.
...

One night I was awakened,
By someone standing by my bed,
He was dressed in an old dusty uniform,
And had a helmet on his head.

As I look out from my window,
I see sliding down the pane,
Little moisture beads of water,
From a morning rain.
...

Her touch to me was gentle,
Her voice was soft and mild,
Mama was my angel,
And I her loving child.
...

Bring them home gently,
Our hero's now at rest,
Wrap the stars and stipes around them,
Lay a hand across each breast.
