Come As You Are Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Come As You Are

“Come you laden and burdened down
Each sinner now distressed
Receive from me a golden crown
Receive eternal rest

Come take Salvation by the hand
In righteousness walk free
Come all who fail to understand
I’ll give you eyes to see

Come now and leave all else behind
Take up your daily cross
Give me your life and soon you’ll find
In truth you’ll bear no loss

Come as you are wretched and torn
With all your filth and shame
Become through Christ a child reborn
Receive a brand new name

Come walk with Christ on waters deep
Give me your doubts and fears
Though for a while you yet may weep
I’ll dry up all your tears

Come buy my silver buy my gold
Take heed the truth I say
Take all my treasures you can hold
For you there’s nought to pay

Come live my love I’ll make you whole
I’ve so much love to share
Delight my child your lonely soul
On all my riches fare

Stand firm in Christ throughout the fight
Hold fast to Jesus’ hand
Receive life’s robe of Liquid Light
Come reign with Christ my land…
