Footprints In The Snow Poem by ANDREW BLAKEMORE

Footprints In The Snow

Rating: 5.0

The fire can't warm my lonely heart
Or stem the pain I feel,
This bleak December afternoon
My wounds shall never heal,
The door is closed a chapter ends
As now the cold winds blow,
The only thing that now remains
Your footprints in the snow.

The window pane looks out upon
The path that lies ahead,
Where thoughts of all my yesterdays
And dreams now lying dead,
I long the thaw to come again
Shall winter never go?
To melt away the memories and
Your footprints in the snow.

The laden trees do bear the strain
But I can't do the same,
For as the day now turns to dusk
My soul still filled with shame,
I'll wait for stars above to shine
For darkness cannot show,
The sadness that now lies within
Your footprints in the snow.
