Holding On To You Poem by Ming Guo

Holding On To You

Much time has passed since I've known you,
You were the one that made the utmost difference.
Although now I feel as if I am hindering you.
You have been hurt one too many times because of my absence.

I feel as if I cannot keep holding on to you.
Times have changed since I knew you then.
I feel as if it is time to part and say farewell to you.
My incapability to meet your needs makes me sad once again.

Day by day, I am deeply saddened by thoughts of you,
How I could not be there when you needed me,
But inside my heart I, I just cannot let go of you,
For fear that if I do, I will be full of misery.

Already I question myself on how to handle this ordeal with you.
Should I let you go and cause you no more pain,
Or could I prevent all this and just stay with you?
If I could, I would try to take away the tear-stains.

I guess in the end, it should be for the betterment of you.
I cannot be selfish and hang helplessly on the edge.
For I could lose myself just by letting go of you.
Please find a way to forgive me and let me back up this painful ledge.
