I Shot The Sheriff Poem by richard belis

I Shot The Sheriff

i shot the sheriff,
and i was proud,
to shot that figure,
which played upon,
the shadow on the floor,
that sheriff had a deputy,
who died that same day,
they blamed me for both deaths,
i didn't do both but no one knows,
that i only shot the sheriff and i'm proud,
i got his death and i shall get mine,
when I wake up tomorrow and taken into,
the death room in which i will die knowing,
I shot the sheriff proud and glad that my deed,
is finally done and now i live down here,
only to beg for life once upon my head....
