James Poem by Alyssa Rieper

James

Rating: 5.0

James just sat in his chair
She stared at him while she twirled her hair
Why she never told him, she can’t say
Why her love couldn’t come out that day
No one cared or was his friend
But she would love him to the end
She felt as though she should tell him that day
Bell rang and she couldn’t stay
He got up and grabbed his books and binder
People pushed him over, they could have been kinder
She got up and walked by
Then looked back to see him cry
He wiped his face and picked up his books
Walked outside, never gave her a look
Walking home with his head down
And on his face, a depressed frown
Her head spun, tears left to fall
She loved him with her heart and all
The next day she went to class
Having a love note to him she would pass
She was pumped up and ready to say
That she had loved him everyday
The bell rang and he wasn’t there
She sat and wondered in despair
The teacher stood up with a note
Wiped tears from her eyes and cleared her throat
'I have an announcement that may cause some dread,
Last night, James shot himself in the head.'
