I met a girl in school who was blind.
She was eager to improve her mind.
She listened alertly as readers read in detail.
With raised bumps she took notes in Braille.
Although her glass eyes were not in focus,
Her awareness was almost like hocuspocus.
She knew when someone entered the room,
Even if they did not speak or wear perfume.
With a keen sense of perception…
She looked inside for a direction.
She walked with a tapping cane…
Finding her way; she did not complain.
It was her ambition to help others in need.
It was her goal to overcome and succeed.
I marveled at her steadfast determination.
Her sightless eyes awakened appreciation.

It is amazing that blind people usually 'see' much more than those of us with 'seeing' eyes. Poetry like painting and other arts does help us see things better. You measure up well in accomplishing this with your artful poetry. I know that I can see better know after reading your poetry.
