Radiance Poem by Lydia Thacker

Radiance

Rating: 5.0

Crystalline slivers of shattered glass,
gleaming like dew upon a garden in full bloom.
-You peer through that cage,
find the cutting edge inside;
my more utilitarian self somehow
shines through to reflect in your eyes.

Praise for my inner beauty
spills from your mouth,
more often even
than that for my outer,
your words touching me
with more intimacy
than any hands could.

You feed my mind,
stoke my passion
and desire for knowledge
until I hunger for
the words from your mouth,
even more than the
taste of your lips.

I want to deserve
your sweet words,
exceed your dreams,
watch that flash of light
build in your eyes
-the one that comes
when you dance with words.

You deserve far better
Than I could hope to give,
but, oh, that I
could be your counterpoint
for even a moment,
parrying your quicksilver tongue
with mine own retort
that I might cause
such passion to rise in you...

A sly smile coming to your mouth,
I would finally give in
to the kiss my lips
have been craving
and smile forever,
knowing that, for just one moment,
I was a woman worthy of you.
