Same Old Story Poem by Alfred Ramos

Same Old Story

It’s not like this story hasn’t been told
Or some great mystery ready to unfold
But it‘s got to come out
What this heartache is all about
The chances that were blown
The sticks and stones that were thrown
There’s a light going off above my head
Telling me this love affair is dead
It’s the same old song and dance
Where destiny does not deserve a second chance
It’s the same old lies
I see them in your tired eyes
No use waiting for things to change
Moments of reverie will seem strange
Memories are buried too deep
And the crystal ball is not for us to keep
Promises broken like dropped dishes
No one will appear with three wishes
Another question life poses
When another of life’s chapter closes
So it’s the same old story
Imagination has lost its glory
