Say Something Poem by Kimberley Myles

Say Something

Jodie, is that you?
I thought you’d left me for good.
It’s been a long time
Since you were in the neighborhood

Were you there
When I kissed your hair?

Hey, Jodie, is that you?

Where have you been hiding out?
Were you trying to break my heart?
Did you want to leave or circumstance
That said we had to part?

Did you come into town to leave by sundown?

Jodie, is that true?

Didn’t you feel me kiss your face?
Or do you feel this isn’t the place

To explain in full
Why you weren’t at school
And you weren’t at home?
Are you all alone?
Can you feel?
Does this seem real?
Drop me a clue -
I’ll still love you -
Or a feeble line
I’ll figure in time.
Just tell me
You wanted to be free
When you laid your head
On Death’s cold bed
‘Cause the only way out was to lose.
Hey, Jodie, was that you
I heard crying, last night?
Do you suffer from the pain
Of yesterday’s fight?

Or is it I
Who should have died
Instead of you?
Could this be true?
For I shall quake
If my love you forsake
Or it’s all a mistake -
I’m so blue,

Because you still haven’t told me
That it’s you
