Sunshine Poem by Kitty Marie Lucas

Sunshine

Rating: 4.0

as a child they called me sunshine
there are similarities, i agree
my pull brings damage yet unseen
i crack and burn in my own heat

you believe in my goodness
but i know i destroy
i watch you seem careless
i'm sure i annoy

once the sentinel of things misunderstood
i burned out before i could do any good
moving closer cos i'm lonely
it only creates change
‘til you're no longer orbiting me
i shine bright, concealing pain

they called me sunshine
but
eternity solely knows my name

and if you don't first
then i'll fade back to whence i came
