The Beginning Of The End Poem by James Royster

The Beginning Of The End

Dear God,
I’m sorry for what I have done.
Afterwards I felt guilty,
but at the time I was just having fun

It seems as soon as you wipe my heart clean
I do something else even more obscene.

You died so that I could be free,
And at times I have the nerve to question if you care for me.

When I was drowning in sin and thought no one was there.
It was you who lifted me up and gave me a breath of fresh air.

Now I submit myself to you
take all of me and make me brand new.

I thank you God for all you have done,
For your mercy, your grace, and especially your Son.

From this day forth I refuse to wallow in sin.
This poem is the beginning of the end.
