Ilari Rahja Poems
Tonight, as I stayed alone. An apparition came to me. Quietly whispered, my name. Rose, a vapor from the ground.
Sun shines. In thine eyes, my love. With every whisper. Of the wind, it blows.
Frost circles, on a glass. I watched. Hour upon hour. Through a day's loneliness.
Honor, pride. My friend. Where lies its gain? Why, my friend?
Something, I looked. Something, I filled. Some giveth meaning. At the last…
Another night alone. I was doomed to spend. Watch, yet again. Evening's linger.
Upon a moonlit meadow. We stood and glanced. Measured ourselves. Took a fateful contest.
Breeze anew, I felt. Amidst the heat. As it moved. Whispered silently.
Why, needless suffering and I. Such close acquaintances. As brothers became?
I owned it. As it dawned on me. Hopelessness! Sudden realization, of a deed.
It was a dark - Foggy day. When I decided to venture ahoy! Ahead, onto the beach. To face its sandy dunes.
In the midst. Of a forest. Dark, fell and gloom. Desire brought.
Why? Seniority. Elders and life. Do I doubt.
How odd, my love. It seems now. For us to have strayed. Been set apart.

Tonight, as I stayed alone.
An apparition came to me.
Quietly whispered, my name.
Rose, a vapor from the ground.
Whisper, in the wind.
Hid, behind every tree.
Oblivion, malice - It brought.
Each move, I make.
As my back was turned.
Sampling me, tasting me.
Smelling, the fear within.
With a lidless eye.
A sudden chill.
Shiver and breeze.
It passes behind me. ...
