you stand attentively each day
as they earnestly guide you
towards life's acceptable way.

Remember all the vociferous pep rallies
We attended in school days now gone?
And who can recall all the songs and cheers
initiated by the cheerleaders as the night wore on.

Autumn is a time of magic,
Bursting colors from hardy trees,
All of nature adorned in a carpet of hues,
A yearly transformation before winter's freeze.

Graceful are the delicate butterflies,
Gliding flawlessly before your eyes,
Igniting the keenest of pleasure
with features 0f beauty that arise.

Aboard the ship of life we sail
Swaying steadily side to side,
Attempting to conquer hardships
As if floatng with the tide.

Do not overstay your welcome,
For guests and fish stink in three days.
Give them a bed and they will make
Themselves a room to lie down for many stays.

There is a slip between the cup and lip,
and a slip of the lip may sink a ship.
You may be heard where you are not seen,
Clap a padlock on your lips to avoid a slip.

The path of life before them lies
as elated graduates take stride.
Parents' eyes focused on their footsteps
as they listen to ceremonial music with pride.
