117. When Their Love Was Young Poem by Jaden Knight

117. When Their Love Was Young

a couple planted a special seed together
in the hope that it would grow
into something wonderful

They watered it with passion
fed it with understanding
as they grew closer it became a tree
tall, broad and as strong as their love
the leaves shining in their own radiance

But every time the couple argued
a wind would shake the tree
sometimes the leaves would become shredded
others a branch would be torn off

After each disagreement
the tree would heal itself
not as strong as it used to be
nor the light so bright

Until one day during the worst fall out
a great storm hit the tree
it tore the trunk apart
where ever lightning struck the branches
the wood burst into flame

Now the tree lies in ruins
even its roots are broken
all the leaves have turned to ash
such is their love now.

Very engaging write and gripping narrative poem, a love story brilliantly expressed.
