241. Eternal Rest Poem by Dipankar Sadhukhan

241. Eternal Rest

Rating: 4.5

Yon, the youth is lying on the mountain
And a stream flowing through the vale looks bright
Yet his eyes are half open in the sunlight.
A raven is crowing time and again.
The vale is covered with fragrant flowers.
In the gentle breeze they are playing.
Make no disturbance to the boy lying
As he is so tired of fighting for hours.
Darkness can ne'er touch his innocent face
As his eyes are glittering in his rest.
Nobody can hurt or wound his red breast.
Give him much time to sleep in happiness.
Give him much patience to lie in the sun
And don't call him to return to his mates.
Now he is safe from the enemy's threats.
Dear Sun! Never set to make his face dun.
He was born to take the eternal rest
Into Nature's nest for giving his best.
