#301 A Little Note Poem by Jimmie Arrington

#301 A Little Note

I wanted to leave a little note
Before you head off to school
And write the words stuck in my throat
In hopes that I can somehow denote
The timeless feelings of a fool.

I want you to know I think of you
Often and everyday.
This confession’s quite overdue
But nonetheless it’s right and true,
Even if it sounds cliché.

Without a doubt I’m luckiest guy
To ever walk this earth.
I live beneath the bluest sky
In a world where it’s always July,
All since the day of your birth.

I often envision, I confess,
The life I’ve dreamt with you.
It paints a smile I can’t repress
To know that some day, more or less,
My dreams will all come true.

I can picture it so vividly,
Four kids playing at the zoo.
It’s wonderful and thankfully
They only look a bit like me,
They’re beautiful like you.

My life seems just like a movie
Or maybe a dramatic play.
It’s a love story told perfectly;
You’re the gorgeous leading lady
Who steals my heart away.

But there is one variation
Between a movie and my life;
While movies are a great sensation
They have a limited duration,
But you’ll forever be my wife.

You’ll forever be my darling,
My friend, my love, my dearest,
My summer, winter, fall and spring,
Truly my all and everything;
My desire and my request.

My love for you will surely outlast
The sun’s shine and moonlight’s glow.
Please, read this note either slow or fast
But never worry, this won’t be the last
I’ll be writing another tomorrow.
