7 Little Crows (Part 8 Of 8) 'History' Poem by Rikki Giovani

7 Little Crows (Part 8 Of 8) 'History'

The final is a story of History.
Who am I to tell you this story?
Who am I to know all of this.
I am Omar, and I am now in my late twenties.
Ronnie and Henry are my fathers.
My father Henry died the summer before I started high school.
Since then Ronnie has raised me on his own.
I have never seen anyone who loved as much as Ronnie loved my dad.
He has always treated me as if I was his own son.
But ever since Henry died the only constant in his life has been me.
I didn't write this record to throw anything in anyone's face.
I wrote this to show you that family and love transgresses all.
Ronnie started dating a guy named Mario last year.
Things are going good except he is afraid to open up his heart again.
Who could blame him.
The only two men that he has ever loved, he has lost.
Maybe I should remind him that love never dies.
Just wait till he finds out that Mario wants to propose to him,
and that I approve of their union.
