A Better Place Poem by Kimber Lee Iacona

A Better Place

A Better Place

The atmosphere disintegrates
right before me
All that seems to be left is the
darkness that surrounds me
Trapped in a cage and can't break free

Desperate cries for help echo in the distance
as I stand at the edge of a cliff
Looking down at the teal blue waters
below

Waves crash into the shores, leaving indents in the sand
Tears drop from my face as I
stand facing the wind

Hoping to let go of all the things that
have been taunting me
So I can just break free from
all the pain
that they caused me

Hopefully, the wind will take me to a better place...

Hopefully in that wind this poem has taken wing to far greater horizons. Emotional, sad and very well written at that age. If only we could ride that wind back to youth.
