A Different View Poem by Randy McClave

A Different View

I see a six and you see a nine
And we're both looking at the very same line,
As we sit on opposite side of a table
Either a six or nine was our label.
Then I drew my number out once again
It's a nine shouted out my very best friend
And then I told him no that it was a six
Then he screamed out that it was all politics.
Then we decided to both switch seats
Now we were on opposite sides of the streets,
Then when we saw those same numbers once more
My six was a nine there nine a six we each did deplore.
Then again we argued and we began to fight
From the numbers that we each did write
They both had started their journey at the very same point
And they both created the same rounding joint.
It's a six my friend screamed and shouted
It's a nine I cried and pouted
Then we decided before we'd start hating each other
We would sit and talk as civilized people together.
Then when we sat together chair to chair
And then at those very same numbers we then did stare
Then with truth and excitement we did encumber
As we both then saw the very same number.
