A Doing Done To Choose Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

A Doing Done To Choose

The best way to keep,
One's peace of mind.
Knowing to have earned,
An undisturbed and restful sleep.
Is to stay away from folks,
Who seem unable to find the time...
A doing done to choose,
Keeping up to date with the latest gossip.
Or rumors to toss about.
Prioritized.
They can not do without,
Calling to share whatever they have heard.
Or have recently seen.

"I know it's early in the day.
But I couldn't wait to tell you,
What just happened.
Verified.
With my own eyes."

-Who is this?
And do you realize it is 4 in the morning? -

"Is it?
Well, anyway.
You will not believe,
Who I just saw leaving the house across the street.
And remember,
I said...
But you denied,
Them to have met or knew each other.
I'll give you one guess.

Hello?
You taking too long.

Hello?
Are you still there?
Say what? !
I know they didn't hang up on me.
Hello?
I know that ain't no dial tone!

People today,
Have yet to appreciate what I have to offer!
I will never call them back again,
To waste fresh news."
